Ganga Dusshera known as Gangavataran is one of the most auspicious days according to Hindu panchang and culture. This day is celebrate to mark the existence of ganga on the earth. The festival is celebrated with lot of enthusiasm in Uttarakhand. It is believed that if you take bath in ganga on this day you complete a significant amount of mahayagyas. There is lot of enthusiasm in Varanasi too, people from places come and perform prayers to maa ganga and do daans. Ganga aarti is performed on Dashashwamedh Ghat.
