One of the eight principles we have at Go Dharmic is Maitriya; The cultivation of friendship. I read a book about the great disciples of the Buddha by Hellmuth Hecker and found this about friendship and it's importance: There is a conversation between the Buddha and one of his foremost disciples Ananda in which Ananda enthusiastically declares, 'I think Friendship is so important it is half of one's religious life.' The Buddha replies: 'No Ananda, Don't say that. Don't say that. Friendship is actually the whole of the religious life.'
