'Man cannot discover new oceans unless he has the courage to lose sight of the shore.' - Andre Gide Courage is about going out of the comfort-zone. It is about the realisation that something can be done and having the motivation and determination to do it and to carry it through despite all the obstacles. It can also be about breaking through even the toughest thoughts that are rooted in fear. Sometimes it might be about the daily small steps we take and implement the wisdom we possess that will take us closer to what we want. When we do meet a fear at face value and enquire about it's validity, often the edge of it fades a little. When we are in danger of course we need to be safe. However when it is a fear related to an emotion or habit, then it might show us where our edge is and where we can grow. It can help us a lot when we develop skills in how to deal with such fears with sensitivity rather than using the 'fight, flight or freeze' approach. It also takes courage to stand up for what we believe in. Sometimes for ourselves and some people go even beyond thinking about themselves and stand up for others too. This of course is not for everyone but I think we all agree that we feel most alive and get a sense of accomplishment when we do things that we thought were a challenge at first. Experiment Is there something you have been wanting to commit to and that you have been holding back from? Do you know what's been holding you back? Even if you feel fear about it, could you commit to it now anyway? Much love and courage to you all πŸŒŠπŸ’› #courage #guidelines #compassion
